A polycarbonate conservatory roof replacement that is EIGHT TIMES more efficient!

Was your conservatory built pre-2011? If so, there is a very high chance that it will have a polycarbonate roof on it.

Polycarbonate is used for conservatory roofs because it is a strong thermoplastic material. It is also cheap to produce, lightweight and clear so over the years, it has become the perfect choice for conservatory installation companies to offer as a roofing option for customers.

The problem with a polycarbonate conservatory roof is, however, that it provides very little heat or sound insulation. Whilst the roof will cope with extremely high and low temperatures outside, it isn’t very effective when it comes to keeping the heat inside during the winter or keeping it out in the summer. Polycarbonate roofs are also extremely noisy in bad weather – particularly when it rains. Your conservatory will be either roasting hot, freezing cold, or deafeningly loud, dependent on the weather outside.

If your conservatory currently has a polycarbonate roof in it, the chances are there are only a few months of the year, where you will be able to comfortably use your conservatory as a living space and not a storeroom or dumping ground.

What We Do

Here at GreenSpace, we’ve now helped over 1700 homeowners to fix their conservatory roof problems. We replace polycarbonate roof panels with our made to order, Thermotec insulated panels which provide a full 8 times more insulation than polycarbonate panels.

Our panels are made from lightweight aluminium and contain 75mm of high-density insulation. They are tailor-made to fit your existing conservatory framework, meaning we can install them in less than a day and there is no disruption to your home or messy building work to contend with.

How Do Thermotec Roof Panels Work?

U-Values are used to measure how good a material is at insulating. The lower the value, the better the insulation. Our panels have a value of 0.29, compared to the 2.40 value of your existing polycarbonate panels. That’s 8 times more efficient!

This graph below shows a comparison of different conservatory roof replacement materials.

Keep Cool In Your Conservatory This Summer

Keep Cool In Your Conservatory This Summer

Think back to last summer. How many of you were looking forward to spending the summer sitting in your conservatory, making the most of the lovely room that overlooks the garden, only to find that sitting in your conservatory, was more like sitting in a sauna?

Last summer, we were exceptionally spoilt with the weather with long hot sunny days that would give a trip to the ‘med’ a run for it’s money – however even without those soaring temperatures, as soon as the sun comes out, for many of us, our conservatories morph themselves into mini-ovens
which make them unbearable to sit in.

Okay there are lots of different ways to keep cool in the summer.  Blinds are often fitted as an initial solution to the problem and whilst they will keep the glare of the sun out, blinds do not make your room cooler. In fact, they become a magnet for dust, dead flies and other insects that are drawn to the light and then trapped between the blinds and the roof.

A very simple solution, of course, would be to put a fan in your conservatory – but possibly not a good long term solution – and to be fair, this only works if you are sat right next to the fan to feel the benefit!  We’ve heard lots of people tell us of all kinds of ways they’ve tried to keep cool in their conservatory over the summer from reducing the amount of clothes they are wearing (only really appropriate if you are not expecting guests!), through to sitting with their feet in an inflatable paddling pool (note, this could get messy!!).

So what’s the solution?

In 2010 the planning laws were relaxed and in the majority of cases, you can now fit a solid roof to your conservatory without planning permission. This means better insulation, keeping the room warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer, and a room that you can use all year round.

Here at Green Space, we specialise in replacing conservatory roofs with roof panels that are lightweight and offer eight times better insulation than a polycarbonate roof. With U-values of 0.29, they will keep your conservatory at a comfortable temperature all year round meaning that even at the height of summer, you will be able to sit in your conservatory without having to resort to stripping off or sitting on top of a fan!

What’s more, the panels are manufactured to measure off site, so installation generally takes less than a day, and we always aim to ensure that your roof conversion is as non-disruptive as possible. We are the sole supplier of this system in the South, our system is compatible with most conservatories, old and new – plus it comes with a ten year guarantee.

Your conservatory that was too cold to eat your breakfast in the morning, could be lovely and cosy by dinner time. Transform your conservatory in one day – contact us today on 01903322004 or find us online at www.greenspaceconservatories.co.uk and see what a difference a day makes!

We want to thank all of our customers who participated in our 2016 NPS competition. The response we had was brilliant.

We can now reveal that Mr and Mrs Brigden from Banbury, are the proud winners of a brand new iPad. They were delighted and we sent our New Sales Area Marketing Manager, Gareth along to give them their winning prize.

They were pleased with their conservatory that they left a NPS score of 10! They we delighted to receive the iPad.
