How Thermotec Conservatory Roof Panels Are Made

High Insulation Conservatory Roof Panels Designed & Manufactured in Great Britain by Thermotec and installed by Green Space UK.

Every conservatory is different, which is why the Thermotec insulated conservatory roof panels are made to measure for each individual installation. Rather than replacing the entire conservatory, this system is designed to replace existing glass or polycarbonate roof panels within a suitable conservatory roof framework.

Each Thermotec panel is constructed using a lightweight aluminium outer casing and a 75mm layer of high-density insulation, helping to reduce heat transfer through the conservatory roof and create a more comfortable space throughout the year. Thermotec panels have a U-value of 0.29 W/m²K. A U-value measures how readily heat passes through a material, with a lower figure indicating better resistance to heat transfer.

The process begins with a detailed survey of your existing conservatory. Accurate measurements are taken and used to manufacture bespoke panels specifically for the existing roof structure. This preparation means much of the work takes place before our installation team arrives at your home, helping to minimise disruption and allowing installation to take as little as a day, depending on the individual conservatory.

How Our Conservatory Roof Panels Are Manufactured

From the initial survey through to manufacturing, finishing and quality checking, every Thermotec roof panel is created specifically for the conservatory it will eventually be installed into.

Step 1. Your conservatory is measured

During your home survey, detailed measurements of the existing conservatory roof framework are taken. These measurements are used during manufacture to ensure each Thermotec panel is made to fit the individual roof structure. This bespoke approach allows us to retain the existing conservatory framework where it is suitable for our replacement roof system.

Step 2. The aluminium casing is formed

The measurements from your survey are entered into a computer-controlled manufacturing system. The required grooves and shapes are cut into an aluminium sheet, which is then folded to create the outer casing of each individual roof panel.

Step 3. High-density insulation is added

A 75mm layer of high-density insulation is fitted within the aluminium casing. This insulated construction is designed to reduce heat transfer through the roof, helping the conservatory retain warmth more effectively in colder weather while reducing excessive heat entering through the roof during warmer months.

Step 4. Each panel is hand-welded and sealed

Once the aluminium casing has been formed around the insulation, each panel is hand-welded to fit and vacuum sealed. This creates the completed insulated roof panel before it moves on to the finishing stage.

Step 5. The panels are powder coated and finished

The exterior of the panels is powder coated and baked, creating a durable finished surface. A range of colours is available, allowing the new roof to complement the existing conservatory and property. The underside of the panels can also be finished in either matte or gloss, depending on the appearance you prefer inside your conservatory.

Step 6. Your panels arrive at Green Space UK

Once manufacturing is complete, the bespoke panels are carefully packed and transported to our distribution centre in Ringwood, Hampshire. Our warehouse team quality checks the panels, along with the other components required for the installation, before everything is prepared for your installation team.

Step 7. Your new conservatory roof is installed

On the day of installation, our team collects the panels and components prepared specifically for your conservatory. The existing glass or polycarbonate roof panels are removed and the new Thermotec panels are fitted into the existing conservatory roof framework, where suitable. Because the panels have already been manufactured to the exact measurements of your conservatory, installation can take as little as a day, depending on the size, design and condition of the existing structure.

The result is a bespoke insulated conservatory roof designed to help reduce heat transfer, glare and rain noise while making the room more comfortable throughout the year.
