Throughout January we will be supporting Dorset Mind as our Charity of the Month!
Dorset Mind is a local charity that has been providing mental health support for 75 years.
- They educate, challenge mental health stigma and inequality, and support recovery through empowering individuals to develop resilience.
- Their 1-2-1 and group support includes active monitoring (CBT-type coaching), befriending, counselling, mentoring, a wide range of support groups and alternative social prescriptions.
- These services prevent worsening mental health illness and help people to regain social skills and develop confidence.
- The charity also delivers educational wellbeing programmes for schools and workplaces alongside providing volunteer opportunities across all areas of the organisation.

Dorset Mind’s History
In 1946, psychiatrist Doris Odlum founded the Bournemouth Association for Mental Health, originally a society for psychiatrists and others with an interest in mental help.
During the years that followed the society transformed and branched out into providing support services to those with mental health including opening a group home, running a number of support clubs across the Bournemouth area.
Around the 2000’s National Mind came on board and now Dorset Mind delivers support consistent with the National Minds high expectations.
Dorset Mind commemorated their 75th Anniversary in 2021 and, after having to cancel due to bad weather, will be celebrating this milestone with a sky diving event this year: ‘75 for Skydive’.
They will be holding this event on the 22nd April at GoSkydive in Old Sarum, Salisbury and welcome people to come and celebrate and support the 75 skydivers!
We're excited to be supporting Dorset Mind this year, and championing them and their work through January in particular.
Green Space Uk will be donating £5 for every sale throughout January 2022, and we felt it fitting that our first company fundraiser should be a staff quiz to get us all talking and learning new things about one another!
