Two of our Green Space UK installers, Sean and James (and their friend Dean!), are going to be attempting the 3 Peaks Challenge in April 2022 to raise money for ex-military charity Rock 2 Recovery.
The 3 Peaks challenge involves climbing the 3 highest peaks in the UK in the space of 24 hours – Ben Nevis, Snowdon and Scafell Pike. In total, 3,408m will be climbed across the 3 peaks. The challenge will be performed without a guide so that more money can be donated to their chosen charity R2R. Although the challenge will not take place until April, training has already started and will continue throughout the winter.
R2R is a charity that aims to help ex-military members with various mental health issues, including PTSD and depression, offering a range of coaching and support. Sean and Dean are both ex-soldiers - Sean from 2nd Battalion The Royal Regiment of Fusiliers and Dean from The 1st Battalion Grenadier - and therefore the charity is particularly close to home for them.
“R2R have helped me deal with my own mental health issues”, says Sean, “they have issued me with my own coach that I can talk to and have taught me better ways of thinking about and dealing with these issues. They do amazing work”.
Although they’re planning on doing the event solo – the 3 man team are still looking for support for many of the logistical elements of the challenge. They are in talks with hire companies for transport and print companies for clothing and banners.
As part of our annual charity scheme, Sean and the team will be Green Space UK’s March charity – for every order placed in March 2022 we will donate £5 to the efforts and we will be holding a fun-filled charity event in the office at some point during the month to raise extra funds. We are forecasting a donation of at least £1,500!
If you are a company that is happy to help with transport or printing – please contact Sean directly on 07494735415.
