Supporting Bournemouth Foodbank: How Our Conservatory Team Gave Back to the Local Community

As a conservatory roofing company working frequently across the Bournemouth and Dorset areas, we believe our role goes beyond improving conservatories and homes. We are also committed to supporting the local communities that our customers live in.

After we returned from our Christmas break, our team organised a workplace donation drive to support the Bournemouth Foodbank, collecting essential food and household items that were not needed or leftover from Christmas, to donate for local families experiencing financial hardship.

What does the Bournemouth Foodbank do?

The Bournemouth Foodbank is one of many foodbanks part of the Trussell Trust, a group of 1,400 foodbanks providing emergency food all over the UK. Bournemouth Foodbank are the closest to us locally and like all the foodbanks, they are dedicated to creating a fairer, hunger free community, and they do so across 6 hubs across the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole area.

They support individuals and families when they need it most and their work goes beyond providing emergency food. They focus on tackling the root causes of poverty, challenging injustice, and bringing people together through practical, compassionate support.

By working alongside local partners, they help strengthen the community and ensure that no one is left behind. We are proud to support an organisation that makes such a meaningful difference locally!

Why Local Foodbank Support Matters in Bournemouth

Demand for foodbanks across the UK has increased significantly in recent years, with many families facing rising living costs.

Bournemouth Foodbank is just one bank of 1,400 that provides emergency food parcels and practical support to individuals and households in crisis throughout the UK and local area.

As a business that works inside people’s homes every day, we see first hand how important community support networks are and contributing to organisations like Bournemouth Foodbank helps ensure vulnerable residents receive essential supplies when they need them most.

A Team Effort from Our Conservatory Specialists

Our installation teams, office staff, and marketing department all contributed to the success of the donation drive. Over the course of the campaign, colleagues donated a wide range of essential items which were delivered directly to Bournemouth Foodbank at the end of January.

Our Donation

Our team donated over 20 items including:

  • Tinned foods and long life meals

  • Pasta, rice and cupboard essentials

  • Savoury & sweet snacks, soups, and crisps

  • Toiletries and hygiene products

This initiative demonstrates how trades and home improvement businesses can make a real impact locally. While our day to day focus is conservatory roof replacements, supporting local people remains just as important.

How Can Other People and Local Businesses Support Foodbanks?

Trussell Trust have over 1,400 foodbanks across the UK and anyone can help contribute to their local foodbank. If you or your workplace would like to support a foodbank, consider:

  • Donating leftover items personally or as an office

  • Organising an office food collection

  • Encouraging team donations

  • Running a seasonal fundraising event

  • Partnering with local charities throughout the year

  • Sharing awareness through social media and customer newsletters

Small efforts from many people and local companies can create a significant positive impact!

What items are most needed by foodbanks?

Typical high demand items include tinned meals, pasta, rice, cereals, long life milk, tea and coffee, hygiene products, and basic household essentials.

Needs can change, so if you are looking to support your local foodbank it is always best to find your local foodbank and check their updated required items list or get in touch and ask them directly.

Community Support as Part of Our Company Values

As a conservatory company serving homeowners across the midlands and south, including Bournemouth, we are proud to support local causes whenever possible!

As part of our 2026 Charity Initiative, we are aiming to support a different charity every month for the whole year, and we started with a toy drive for The Salvation Army in December and now we've completed January with the Food Bank. We are will be sharing our February initiative very soon and we are proud of our ongoing commitment to making a positive difference locally while continuing to provide homeowners with warmer, more comfortable living spaces!

We believe that improving homes and supporting communities should go hand in hand!

Thanks again to the work of the local foodbanks and to our team for coming together and donating to a good cause!
